A centerpiece of our outreach program is a pair of on-line genetics tutorials developed by the Barkan lab (see http://mendel.uoregon.edu). These tutorials are useful stand-alone classroom resources, and are also used in conjunction with visits by local middle school classes in Oregon.
The Barkan lab offers a summer course for middle school and high school students through the University of Oregon’s Talented and Gifted (TAG) program. This summer we had 32 middle school students participate in our course, called “It’s not easy being green”.
